Hi everyone!
So let's talk about how we all discovered what brought us here: Trigun.
1. Did you first read the manga or watch the anime? 2. What was your first impression? 3. Did you experience it alone or with someone else? 4. Have you introduced anyone else to Trigun?
Here are my answers: 1. I first watched the anime, and that when I was in high school. I didn't even know there was a manga at first, and I only read it this year. 2. I was completely entertained and enthralled by the combination of wacky and cool. I was mortified for Vash for the first few episodes, but then I got over it. 3. I watched a few episodes by myself, and a few with one of my friends who had already seen it - he laughed at my reactions but it was cool to have someone to talk to about it. 4. I have! I introduced my brother to it last year, and he promptly bought me the Badlands Rumble movie! I also introduced a new friend of mine to it this year. We watched it together, and it was incredibly difficult to just shut my mouth and not give any spoilers as to what was going to happen. She's now talking about maybe doing Trigun cosplay in the future... muahahaha.

>decided to check out the anime, expecting another Cowboy Bebop >first two episodes: gross disappointment (where's my Bebop?!) >episode 3 turns me into a believer >second half of the show turns me into a worshiper >finish the manga in less than a week >draw fanart ever after
True story.
I managed to successfully infect three of my friends a while ago, but they are not nearly as crazy about Trigun as I am.

Oh man, I have stories. <_<
1. I watched the anime first, but here's how I found it. Back when it was on TV, I was oblivious. But I was cruisin' through Hot Topic one day and found a cute lady's T-shirt with Kuroneko-sama on it, and I bought it. I was sure the cat was FROM something, but didn't know what, and didn't care. It was cute. A little later, someone mentioned in passing that it was from Trigun, but I didn't bother looking it up. I wore that shirt for YEARS without a clue what the anime was about. Finally one day I was laying on my bed, bored out of my mind, and saw my shirt. Maybe I could look up Trigun and watch it? Sure, why not. And the rest is history. 2. My first impression was that I loved Vash to death and I loved coming home from work and unwinding to a show that made me giggle all the way through it. After the show sobered up, I was too attached to Vash to quit. One funny reaction I had was that I originally hated Legato with the passion of a thousand suns. (He's grown on me. A lot. A lot a lot.) Every time he came on screen, I would point my fingers like a gun and pretend to shoot him. Right between the eyes. Then I hit THAT episode, and I was like, 'Holy crap!" D8 3. I watched it all by my lonesome. Which was actually pretty convenient when Wolfwood died and I bawled my eyes out. 4. I've made a few attempts to get others into it, but no one gets hooked on it enough to join the fandom.
Wow, sorry for the ramble. XD

1. Did you first read the manga or watch the anime? I watched the anime 3-4 years after I heard about Trigun from a friend (who was the big fan of it before me), and I didn't know it existed a manga until some time later.
2. What was your first impression? Hah, I had NO interest of it whatsoever at first when my friend talked about it. She tried to introduce a few of the characters to me, such as Vash, Wolfwood and Legato, but I just didn't feel an interest to know more about the fandom or the characters.
But once I watched the anime years later, I admired it so much that it is still my favorite even today.
3. Did you experience it alone or with someone else? Like I said before, I experienced it with my Internet friend who used to be the big Trigun fan of us two. My friend had lost interest in Trigun by the time I became a huge fan, but she has started to feel some interest again and I am the one to blame for it.
4. Have you introduced anyone else to Trigun? I introduced my older sister to it when she had asked for suggestions of animes to watch. She liked it, but I don't think she's really a fan.

1. Mine is a long, somewhat convoluted story. Some years ago, maybe 2007, someone recommended it to me, and I watched about 2 minutes of the first episode , got distracted, and forgot about it. Fast forward to 2009 or so... I find a Trigun book in the library and I was like "Oh wait someone recommended this to me." I requested the first book since my local branch only had 2 and maximum 4 or something at the time. Anyways unimportant detail. Book one shows up and I read it and I'm like "hey this is cool" and finally go and watch the whole first episode. Then I fell in love. 2. My first impression was THIS IS REALLY COOL. That's really all I remember it being. Cool book. Cool show. Whooooaaa. 3. I was alone. I'm an only child, my friends only knew like Pokemon and Sailor Moon anime-wise, and this was only like my second anime (Gundam 00 was my first), so yeah no one was watching it with me/at the same time. 4. Oh boy let's see... I got 3 friends into it, 2 to read the manga (my boyfriend wants to but just hasn't had time), and got several more to watch some episodes/the movie with me c: they enjoyed it!!
(Fun fact: I thought Vash died at the end of Trigun vol. 2. The fact there were 14 other books didn't tip me off. I have since wised up.)

(Fun fact: I thought Vash died at the end of Trigun vol. 2. The fact there were 14 other books didn't tip me off. I have since wised up.) Ahahaha! I actually do this, with books and movies. I get so invested in the story, and what's happening, that I really think that the main character(s) are going to die. The problem is, I have watched a lot of Chinese movies, and if you know ANYTHING about Chinese drama movies you know that 99% of them end with one or all of the protagonists dying. So... that's something. FFVII also scarred me in that respect, but I still love it.

Hi, beware of the length ;P 1. I first watched the anime with my best friend. We discovered it really randomly through a MAD on youtube where there were many animes portrayed, and wondered where this tall blond man in a red coat was from xD So we searched and found the first episode in french dubbing (we're from Belgium) and watched it together at my friend home. 2. First impression was "WTF is this anime it's so stupid". But when I went home I couldn't help but continue watching and found it very awesome ! Then I found out my friend did the same and we searched for the mangas. (Which is, I think, much better than the anime (even if the anime is awesome too).. I really wish for an anime adaptation following the manga story (like "brothehood" for FMA), but I don't think it'll ever happen...). 3. So my best friend has always been my partner in Triguning and we always shared our beliefs and we RPed (she's the Wolfwood to my Vash <3) and stuff, and it's been a few years now and it's still as much fun as it first was, if not more 4. I always try to introduce new friends to Trigun And that's it ^^" (My best friend's tumblr name is Carnsy)

1. Did you first read the manga or watch the anime? I watched the anime first, back when it aired on [AS]. I completely blame my older brother for that one, being the Vash fanboy he was back then. I believe I was 12-13 at the time when he got me watching it?
2. What was your first impression? I cannot remember all the details, but I recall feeling RELIEVED knowing Vash wasn't the rough n' tough guy the commercials at the time made him out to be. I also recall getting really into the whole mythos behind the story, as confusing as it was. However, that was around the time [AS] stopped airing it, and I missed several episodes (including the ending). So after a while, I just kinda forgot about it, and lost interest in the series altogether.
... And then two years later it kinda reemerged in my mind, and I somehow started reading the manga and watching the show again, and it punched me in the emotional gut. HARD.
3. Did you experience it alone or with someone else? Nope, just me. At that age, I kinda had to sneak and watch it, as I was supposed to be in bed at the time. :U I would talk about it with bro at times, though.
4. Have you introduced anyone else to Trigun? I have gotten several to check it out, but I can count two being complete successes. Both very good friends, who both have managed to find awesome Trigun merchandise that I am too poor to own, and has made me very jellyyyyyy. ... still would be nice to convert more, though~!

Here's my two cents. Don't let it depress you, hope I didn't sound too dramatic!
1. I saw the anime first. The first episode I ever saw was "Hard Puncher," episode 5. 2. My first impression was iffy, I had only seen serious posters of Vash and Knives before I actually saw the series, so when I saw it on CN, I was surprised at how light-hearted it was. 3. I experienced it by myself. In middle school, my mom was in the hospital for a couple weeks and I had to stay with a friend for that time. I couldn't sleep one night so I decided to watch TV and of course, an episode of Trigun just started. It sounds cheesy but watching it cheered me up. I guess you could say, this series helped me get through a very tough time in my life, even the manga. I know this is the same for others. But I wanted to share it. That's how much it means to me. 4. I've tried to introduce it to others. One of my younger brothers said he liked it... only because it reminded him of Firefly though.

1. I first watched the anime on Adult Swim. My friend had an internet connection and knew a LITTLE bit about it at the time. When I told her about an ad I saw she said it was suppose to be as good as Cowboy Bebop and I should totally record it! (She didn't have cable TV at her house and I didn't have the internet - yes, people really use to live this way) So I would record the episodes on a VCR and when she came over we'd watch them together. Which leads into the next questions about us watching it together for the first time- 2. *cough* Kinda... us watching it for the first time together stopped around episode 2 or 3 because then I was staying up late to watch them. I was excited to see what would happen next. She forgave me because she was watching a lot more anime than I was at the time. Her brother use to download from Kazaa a lot. XD I still would have a lot of fun re-watching them with her when she came over. We loved the first part and when passing each other in the halls of our school would even stop dramatically and give dramatic thumbs up at each other before putting our hands on our fists and breaking out in mad (silent) laughter. 3. Oh whoops. See questions one and two XD Although I admittedly was much more into the show than she was so she's slowly fallen out of the fandom. For that crime let me just go ahead and embarrass her by dropping this photo link: img.photobucket.com/albums/v136/zig_zag123/scan-1.jpg which is her on our high school senior trip when we stopped at a medieval fair and she turned around to me to give our Vash Thumb salute when I asked her if she was having a good time. Ahhh, good thing she'll never see this or I'd be dead. 4. I actually have! I RP as Vash on Dreamwidth in some panfandom game settings. I've tagged a few people and when they mention they haven't seen Trigun I've gotten pretty good at getting them to go watch it. I've just gotten someone to watch both the series, Badlands, and now they're starting to pick up the manga!!

1. Had just learned what anime was even though I'd been watching it my whole life (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Miyazaki films etc.) and found the series on YouTube. I think I was twelve at the time. 2. It immediately became my favorite series, probably the first one I actually finished but at the time I was too busy finding more stuff to watch it more than twice and forgot about it until nine months ago when I saw it on netflix. 3. I was alone just watching anime in my room as usual. But when I rediscovered it my sister mentioned there was a movie so I found that and the manga and haven't shut up since. 4. My friend promised to watch it but hasn't yet. At least she doesn't mind my rants and it's only fair since she got me hooked on Hatoful Boyfriend. My sister refuses to join in because I've annoyed her too much with it but I've caught her peaking over my shoulder a few times.

1. First watched the anime after discovering Vash made a cameo in Wild Arms 2, and it blew my mind, instantly becoming my favorite anime. 2. At first, I honestly expected Vash the Stampede to have actually killed before the events of the story began. Then I saw he was a pacifist, and he became my #1 favorite protagonist in anime. When I saw Legato Bluesummers, and the way he kills people, he instantly became my favorite villain of all time. 3. Alone 4. I do remember introducing a friend of mine to Trigun, and he LOVED it.

Oh boy...
1. First encountering Trigun was via Adult Swim. Honestly, I only initially got acquainted with it, and didn't take a broad interest in most things at the time. It wasn't until I started reading the manga that it started coming back to me and I was like "Shit, this is great!" I ordered these... bootleg-but-working DVDs with the Japanese audio series and my fate was sealed. 2. Vague, but pretty cool! The kinda Western-ish with sci-fi and a pretty sweet protag! Goofy action! Until all the heartbreak later on. 3. Wholly alone, fairly enough. I kept my feelings to myself, initially. 4. A few, sure! Mostly because I don't shut up. More recently because I could as I streamed Trigun as part of my impromptu "block", I introduced at least one friend to it, and coerced another to read the manga.

Helloo~ my name is Karaii, and I am an artist~ 1. Did you first read the manga or watch the anime?Hehe! I guess I'm the first to say that I read the manga first (over five years ago!). Because of this and other reasons, I prefer the manga over the anime (though I think the anime's fantastic!) 2. What was your first impression?Confusing to read at first, but intriguing. I'm rarely a fan of gag manga, but Nightow is really skillful at balancing serious moments with humorous ones in a single chapter, so I quickly fell in love with our quirky, immortal protagonist. The jump to seinen only made me love it more. 3. Did you experience it alone or with someone else?Alone! 4. Have you introduced anyone else to Trigun?I've told all of my dorm mates about it but they've yet to watch or read it, haha. Perhaps I'm not persuasive enough! Attachments:
